What type of torch should I get to solder gold? 10 points for a full complete answer?
I'm not sure if I should use butane when everybody else is saying that they use propane and all that? I mean the small butane lighters can cost about $20 and that's a great price and all, but does it do the job right?
What type of torch should I get (butane or propane) and what parts do I need? Also, which torch works best for what situations?
I have never soldered gold before, but I don't see why you couldn't use a small butane torch. ( A torch, NOT a lighter.) I solder stainless steel with one at work, and it seems gold would melt even easier then stainless steel. Now what you would use for the flux and solder, I do not know. But the small butane torches get very hot, and have a nice, precise flame that is great for working with small things, if that is what you will be doing. Sorry i can't be of more help.
